Maybe this WILL be the top-tier GPU from NVIDIA in the 30-series, they are calling it the BFGPU afterall. It WAS the RTX 3090 and then it WAS the RTX 3080 Ti (technically), they shoved the 3080 Ti in there because the 24GB memory on the 3090 is not really worth it for gaming.
So what does the RTX 3090 Ti offer us?
Well in the monster GPU face-off (RTX 3090 VS RTX 3090 Ti), lets see what the differences are.
First of all the RTX 3090 Ti is expensive and power-hungry, with only a small margin of difference on the specs. They use the same GA102 GPU, which is also found down in the RTX 3080, however in the case of the 3090 Ti it is unlimited, meaning it can use all of its cores and can draw pretty much as much power as it needs, and while we are on that subject, its 450W TDP! You’re going to need at least a 1000W PSU, ouch! But I guess thats not goin to be a problem if you are an 8K gamer, which is another of the marketing headlines of this GPU.
So what else is different then, well the clock speeds of both the GPU and the VRAM are slightly higher, as you will see in the table below.
RTX 3090 Ti | RTX 3090 | |
GPU | GA102 | GA102 |
CUDA cores | 10,752 | 10,496 |
RT cores | 84 | 82 |
Tensor cores | 336 | 328 |
Base clock | 1,560MHz | 1,395Mhz |
Boost clock | 1,860 MHz | 1,695MHz |
Memory | 24GB GDD6X | 24GB GDDR6X |
Memory speed | 21Gbps | 19.5Gbps |
Memory bus width | 384-bit | 384-bit |
Bandwidth | 1,018GBps | 936GBps |
TDP | 450W | 350W |
Pricing – Current pricing at launch appears to be hovering around the £2,000-mark, although I’ve seen some priced as low as £1,800, so expect to pay between £1,800 to £2,200 right now. The RTX 3090 prices have fallen a bit since the launch of it’s bigger brother, so you can pick up one of the ‘lesser’ cards for around £1,600 to £2,000, which is pretty good compared with how long they have stayed at or above £2k.
We have limited stock of the RTX 3090 Ti, so please get in touch with us today to find out what system we can put together for you with this GPU.
