The latest processors from AMD are the 5000 series, based on the Zen 3 architecture which has come on leaps and bounds over the Zen 2 architecture found in the already great Ryzen 3000 series CPU's.
AMD have improved every piece of the CPU and it's architecture from a larger L3 cache, CCX design and upgrades to the IPC (instruction per clock), they are now ready to take on Intel for the gaming processor crown and right now they look to be set to win the fight.
There are four Ryzen 5000-series CPUs to choose from at launch, these are the Ryzen 5 5600X which is a 6 core 12 thread, the Ryzen 7 5800X which is an 8 core 16 thread, the Ryzen 9 5900X which is a 12 core 24 thread and then finally the Ryzen 9 5950X which is a 16 core 32 thread CPU.
At launch stock has been an issue and we were lucky enough to get our hands on a batch of 5600X and 5900X which have already gone out in system builds for our customers.
We have kept hold of a 5900X for our own in-house testing and bench-marking and will post the results below.
The bar graph below was published by AMD themselves and gives a good idea how the new processor compares to the previous generation..
