iRacing Performance

iRacing is unusually CPU-bound, leaning on single-thread speed and large L3 cache, which is why AMD X3D chips dominate. The GPU only really stretches its legs on triple-screen and VR setups, where 16GB or more of VRAM and a steady high-refresh frame rate matter most. Note that iRacing renders natively with no DLSS or FSR, so raw GPU grunt counts.

FAQ

Common questions

What graphics card do I need for iRacing at 1440p?

For a single 1440p monitor an RTX 5070 or AMD RX 9070 will hold well over 165 fps on Ultra settings, ideal for a high-refresh racing display. Step up to an RTX 5080 or RX 9070 XT if you plan to run triple screens, where the workload roughly triples. Every CREATE PCs build is balanced around your exact setup so you are not paying for grunt you cannot use.

Is iRacing more CPU or GPU intensive?

iRacing is one of the most CPU-bound titles around. Its physics engine rewards strong single-thread performance and large L3 cache, which is why we recommend AMD Ryzen X3D chips such as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, with Intel Core Ultra as a strong alternative for those who also stream. On a single screen the GPU rarely breaks a sweat, so spending wisely on the CPU is the smart move.

How much RAM do I need for iRacing?

iRacing officially asks for 16GB, but we fit 32GB DDR5 as standard on our sim racing builds for comfortable headroom with a browser, Discord and timing apps open alongside the game. If you run VR or stream your races, 64GB is worth considering. We will spec the right amount for how you actually race.

What do I need for triple-screen or VR sim racing?

Both triples and VR are demanding on the GPU and on VRAM, so we recommend at least 16GB of video memory, which points to an RTX 5080, RX 9070 XT or RTX 5090 for the most demanding rigs. iRacing renders natively with no DLSS or FSR upscaling, so raw performance is what keeps frames smooth and motion comfortable. We tune and stress-test every triple-screen and VR CREATE PC before it leaves our Stevenage workshop, backed by a 5-year warranty.
