The RTX 4080 — and what came next

The GeForce RTX 4080 was a superb high-end card, delivering smooth 4K gaming with ray tracing thanks to NVIDIA's Ada Lovelace architecture and 16GB of GDDR6X memory. It sat just below the 4090 as the enthusiast's choice for high-refresh 1440p and 4K play.

NVIDIA has since replaced the 4080 with the GeForce RTX 5080. New 4080 stock is now limited, so for a new build the RTX 5080 is the card we recommend in its place.

Why the RTX 5080 is the better buy today

The RTX 5080 is built on NVIDIA's newer Blackwell architecture with 16GB of next-generation GDDR7 memory and considerably more bandwidth than the 4080's GDDR6X. Crucially it adds DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation, delivering much higher frame rates in supported titles. For elite 4K gaming and content creation it is a clear generational step up from the 4080 it replaces.

Can I still buy an RTX 4080 PC?

The RTX 4080 has been succeeded by the RTX 5080, so new 4080 stock is now limited. For a new build we recommend the RTX 5080, which outperforms the 4080 and adds DLSS 4. If you specifically need a 4080, contact us on 03333 444 127 and we'll advise on availability.

Is the RTX 5080 better than the RTX 4080?

Yes. The RTX 5080 uses the newer Blackwell architecture with faster 16GB GDDR7 memory, more bandwidth, and DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation — delivering notably higher frame rates than the 4080 in supported games.
