Recommended Photoshop specs by workload

Photoshop rewards high single-thread CPU speed and ample fast RAM far more than a powerful GPU.

Photoshop leans on single-thread CPU clock speed first, then plenty of RAM, then fast NVMe scratch. The GPU matters mainly for AI features (Generative Fill, Neural Filters, AI Denoise) where 8GB+ VRAM avoids big slowdowns. It uses a single GPU only, and a consumer RTX card is the right choice over a pro card.

Why CREATE PCs

Clock speed where it counts

Photoshop is mostly a single-thread workload, so we lead with high-clock chips like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D for instant brushes, filters and layer operations.

RAM and scratch done properly

We pair generous DDR5 with a dedicated fast NVMe scratch disk so large documents and history states never grind to a halt.

A GPU sized for AI, not overkill

Generative Fill, Neural Filters and AI Denoise want 8GB+ VRAM, so we fit a sensible RTX card rather than wasting your budget on a card Photoshop cannot use.

Adobe Photoshop PCs FAQs

How much RAM does Photoshop need?

32GB is the comfortable standard for everyday RAW and layered editing in 2026. Move to 64GB for files above roughly 1GB or heavy AI use, and 128GB for gigapixel composites and large batch jobs. Spare RAM also leaves more headroom before Photoshop has to lean on the scratch disk.

Is CPU or GPU more important for Photoshop?

The CPU matters most. Most core Photoshop operations (brushes, filters, layer adjustments) run on a single thread, so a high-clock chip feels far faster than extra GPU power. The GPU mainly accelerates AI features, zoom and a handful of effects, so a modest card is plenty.

Do I need a professional or workstation GPU for Photoshop?

No. Photoshop runs beautifully on a consumer GeForce RTX card and gains nothing meaningful from a Quadro or RTX A-series. We fit a current RTX card with at least 16GB of VRAM, which comfortably covers Generative Fill, Neural Filters and AI Denoise. We do install NVIDIA Studio Drivers for stability.

Does Photoshop use multiple GPUs?

No, Photoshop only uses a single GPU, so a second card does nothing for performance. We put your budget into faster single-thread CPU performance, more RAM and quicker NVMe instead. A second GPU only makes sense if you also run a GPU-heavy app like DaVinci Resolve.

Do you preinstall Photoshop?

No, Photoshop needs your own Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, so we cannot bundle it. We can preinstall the Creative Cloud client and confirm GPU acceleration is enabled and Studio Drivers are in place before dispatch, so you can sign in and start editing straight away.
