A fab system for music production, built for our client, Matt! He called us today to let us know just how impressed he is with the PC and the performance while putting it through its paces last night. Matt first got in contact with us via our Bespoke PC Enquiry Form as he had some specific requirements that may not be met with our web PC configurator.
As you can imagine, for a music production PC, background noise is not acceptable, or at the most, it has to be extremely low level, so the computer is going to have to be as quiet in operation as possible. This brings us to the first point of note when designing this system, selecting a case and components with low sound level characteristics. The Fractal Design Define 7 is a really impressive case with a sound-deadened front panel and rear/side panel, it is also a heavy-duty construction with thick glass, which together reduces NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). We also like the Fractal cases for their 140mm fan support, this is important in a PC trying to achieve a low sound level as with a larger fan such as 140mm you can flow more air for a given sound level than you can with a 120mm fan, the fans we specified here were Fractal’s own Aspect fans with ARGB lighting.
For CPU cooling we recommend liquid cooling over any air cooler on the market these days, there has been so much continual development in liquid coolers to really get them working efficiently and quietly. Fractal’s very own liquid cooler was chosen with it’s 360mm radiator and subtle pump lighting, it was selected in particular for it having one of the quietest pumps that we have tested. Also of note with liquid coolers, you don’t have to run the fans very fast at all, let the liquid absorb the heat generated by the CPU first, then add fans to reduce this liquid temperature – this method works great for rendering, gaming, and most CPU intensive tasks.
For the major hardware in this PC, the Intel Core i9-12900KF CPU was chosen for its ultimate performance (it really is one of the best CPU’s ever made by Intel and on the market right now), yes they run hot, but they are so stable and very intelligently share the load across the 16-cores which include Efficiency Cores and Performance Cores. The motherboard from Gigabyte Aorus has one of the most impressive audio interfaces that we have experienced so was an obvious choice for this PC. Graphics is not as important as CPU with music production but having the complete graphics requirements of the PC dealt with by a dedicated and robust graphics chip such as this RTX 3060 Ti is absolutely worth it…..oh and Matt can enjoy gaming too, which he does when not producing music.
